freediving

"Louisa is one of the freediving greats – beautifully soft in nature, yet sheer powerful might in experience and knowledge. If you spend any time underwater, do not miss her workshop."
(Brainspotting for Freedivers Workshop)

Many freediving plateaus aren't technical problems, but nervous system problems, and they respond to a different kind of coaching.

If the technical work isn't fixing the problem, and you are losing joy, feeling frustrated and burning out, perhaps the cause — and the solution — lies elsewhere. Freediving is a reflection of what is happening in our nervous system, and that is where we may find the answer.

With 14 years as a freediver, an AIDA Master Instructor since 2013, a competition safety freediver since 2014, a trauma-informed Brainspotting practitioner, and 18 years of movement rehabilitation and nervous system education, I have a lot of tools to work with the whole person.

I founded Freedive Ibiza in 2014 — the island's first freediving school — competed at the 2013 Depth World Championships, was the first female Chief of Safety in International Depth Competitions and served as Senior Safety and Chief of Safety at multiple international depth events, including Blue Element and five appearances at Vertical Blue. I consulted for and appeared in Netflix's The Deepest Breath (2023) and perform Safety in film productions, including a recent film for Apple TV.

With this background, my teaching blends technical expertise and many years of experience with patience and deep mind-body awareness — ensuring calm, safety and enjoyment. A safe and regulated nervous system is the foundation for true progress in freediving.

"Freediving is a deeply psychological sport, but we dedicate far more time to physical training.
we talk about 'mental control' while knowing that pushing harder in freediving doesn't work, and trying to 'control' means we lose the softness, surrender and fluidity that are essential to freediving.

we cannot force our nervous system to relax, but with brainspotting we can encode nervous system flexibility, safety, and shift performance blocks that are in the way of realising the fullness of our potential"

SPECIALISED COACHING & COURSES

I specialise in performance blocks, fears and trauma.

I am not the coach who will give you technical fixes for your mouthfill. But if you are struggling with equalisation because of your nervous system, then I can help.

I am not going to focus on pushing numbers if your body is contracting and stopping you. But I can work with you to shift what is causing plateaus or blocks in your performance.

If you want to feel safer, more relaxed, find or rediscover enjoyment in and under water, or if you feel something is getting in your way that technique work isn't fixing — then I can help.

I work directly with the brain and body using Brainspotting, nervous system regulation tools, and a coaching style shaped by deep mind-body awareness.

WORKSHOP:
BRAINSPOTTING FOR FREEDIVERS

Rewire your Brain to Enhance Your Freediving.

You have done the dry exercises, the CO2 training, you feel sure your body is relaxed, the conditions are good — and yet something stops you. The mind takes over. You turned early and don't know why. Your equalisation blocked at the same depth, again.

This is not a technical problem or something ‘mental strength’ can resolve. It is a nervous system response that the thinking mind cannot override, no matter how much you visualise or rehearse.

This workshop introduces freedivers to the neuroscience behind performance, stress and flow — with practical, embodied tools you can use immediately.

What you will learn:

  • How stress and unresolved experiences silently affect performance and flow

  • What is Brainspotting — how eye positions connect to, and then change, your neural pathways

  • Nervous system regulation tools for parasympathetic calm on demand

  • How to locate and shift performance blocks

  • Accessing flow states

WORKSHOP:
freediving Safety masterclass

Practical Rescue Skills for Real Training Situations

This practical workshop is designed to help certified freedivers deepen their confidence, sharpen their rescue skills, and learn how to respond calmly and effectively in real training environments.

Professional Competition Safety trainings teach how to function in a setting where you have a team, medics with specialised equipment and a lot of planning and support.

In recreational settings, we have different circumstances and considerations.

This Masterclass is non-competition safety, focused on the skills you need when training with other certified freedivers in recreational pool or depth training sessions.

This pool-based workshop includes a theory/briefing/Q&A and open discussion session, followed by in-water practice in the pool, including time in a deep section (if available), to practice depth rescues.

This workshop aims to give freedivers the confidence to think critically, adapt intelligently, and perform safety in a way that is both effective and appropriate to the situation.

Who Is It For?

  • Certified freedivers of all levels

  • Freediving assistants and instructors

  • Everyone who wants to brush up their safety skills to gain more confidence and critical thinking to better support their training buddies or students
